Master Edits in Film

Symbolism
In this film clip from the 1973 movie "American Graffiti", Our main character, Curt, and his friends are at a school dance after they have graduated. However, Curt leaves the dance and begins wandering the halls of his school. He walks towards his locker, inputs the combination, but the locker does not open. The locker in this scene represents Curt's past life in high school. The change of the locker's combination shows an inability for Curt to relive high school.
Leit Motiff
In this film clip from the 2018 film "Halloween", Michael Myers is walks towards a shed to grab a weapon on the night of October 31st. Michaels theme plays in the over the scene as it has in films previous. The music in this scene shows the eeriness of Michael Myers and signifies the beginning of another murder spree by Myers.
Simultaneity 
In this film clip from the 2004 movie "Troy", princes of Troy Hector and Paris wait outside of the walls of Troy for the Spartan army advancing from the Trojan beach. The scene alternates between the two princes and the king of Troy and the area where the Spartan army's marching can be heard from. The alternating between the characters in Troy and the growing sound of marching builds suspense.

Review of Camera Angles in a Movie

 I chose a few camera angles to comment in the 2011 movie "Battle: Los Angeles" because it is one of my favorite action sci-fi film. The movie is about a Marine staff sergeant and his platoon who are deployed to Los Angeles after aliens land off the coast of the city. The movie follows the platoon as they move through the city to discover a way to defeat the aliens. This scene occurs at the beginning of the movie when the aliens have already begun invading Los Angeles. The first camera angle is a top shot, showing the aftermath of the alien's beach landing. The second camera angle is an extreme wide shot of the destruction of Los Angeles. The third camera shot is a bird's eye view of Los Angeles, which is the scene before the platoon actually arrives in Los Angeles. The next scene takes place midway through the movie. In the scene, the platoon is pinned down because of a group of aliens and their cannon. The character in this scene, Lieutenant Martinez, sacrifices him...
