Master Edits in Film

Symbolism In this film clip from the 1973 movie "American Graffiti", Our main character, Curt, and his friends are at a school dance after they have graduated. However, Curt leaves the dance and begins wandering the halls of his school. He walks towards his locker, inputs the combination, but the locker does not open. The locker in this scene represents Curt's past life in high school. The change of the locker's combination shows an inability for Curt to relive high school.   Contrast My contrast shot is of my brother screaming then sitting at a table. This shows contrast because the first clip is very loud and in the second clip he is sitting calmly at a table. Parallelism My parallelism shot is of my sister and her kid. The shot shows the similarity between mother and daughter. Symbolism My symbolism shot is of a ball and the sun. The shot symbolizes a connection between the yellow ball and the sun. Simultaneity My simultaneity shot is of my brother and niece. The shot builds suspense with the rapid changes in clips.  Leit Motiff My Leit Motiff shot is of my brother. The shot has a replicated sound in each clip of my brother walking through a door.
